In the PECOS project we looked at how to apply Model Driven Engineering techniques for testing the conformance off-the-shelf IP components against design requirements (like functionality, timing, power and energy consumption). The approach targeted the NoTA architecture, developed at Nokia Research Center, Helsinki.
Network on Terminal Architecture (NoTA) is a service-oriented architecture for modular embedded devices which attempts to enable systems developers to create highly modular, easily integrated embedded systems. NoTA employs the concepts behind the Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) for the development of embedded devices, by dividing an embedded system into a set of components (called subsystems), each subsystem being able to accommodate a set of services. The architecture promotes the creation of loosely coupled components implementing well-defined interface specifications and communicating using standardized protocols.
